The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program commonly referred to as “CDPAP,” is an innovative alternative to traditional home health aide service. If you require in-home care but prefer the assistance of someone you already know and trust, such as a friend or family member, this is the program for you.
Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) Home Care is a New York State Medicaid Funded program that provides services to those who need long-term care such as seniors, chronically ill, or disabled individuals. This unique program allows the consumer or their designated representative to hire a Personal Assistant of their choice. The consumer can hire their family and friends to take care of them, and Medicaid will pay for them. The program promotes consumer independence and enables self-directed consumers and advocates to recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise and dismiss Personal Assistant(s) of their choice.
