The California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF) is a non-profit trade association established in 1950. It represents skilled nursing and intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities throughout California. CAHF is dedicated to promoting quality care for the frail elderly, those with intellectual disabilities, and individuals with chronic mental illness.
CAHF serves as the largest provider of continuing education for long-term care professionals in California, supporting approximately 900 skilled nursing facilities and around 450 intermediate care facilities. These facilities collectively serve between 350,000 and 400,000 individuals each year and support over 139,000 jobs. The association engages in legislative and regulatory advocacy, offers extensive education and training programs, provides industry information, and promotes the interests of long-term care providers. Additionally, CAHF offers group insurance programs and resources for disaster preparedness to its members, which include more than 1,600 licensed long-term care facilities.
