West Virginia Caring, a community-based, non-profit provides hospice and palliative care to patients and families in 12 counties in North Central West Virginia including: Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Gilmer, Marion, Monongalia, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker and Wetzel counties since 1983. WV Caring has the only Hospice Center, which is a short-term hospital for hospice patients in NCWV. It is known for taking on complicated illnesses, pediatrics, patients without an ability to pay for care. In its 41 years, this organization has served the most generations of patients and families. It also has three Resale Shops serving the communities to provide a way for families to give back and for those who need items that are new or in great condition. And, providing a free bereavement camp for children ages 6-14 and the adults in their lives since 1996. The organization serves all individuals without discrimination in age, race, religion, sex, gender, and income.
